Jetsun Deleplanque is the 2024-2025 Shinjo Ito Postdoctoral Fellow at UC Berkeley. His research and teaching expertise covers Tibetan and Himalayan Buddhist history, sociology and literature, with a particular interest in questions related to religion and political power and the construction of religious authority. He received his PhD in the History of Religions from the University of Chicago’s Divinity school. Jiangnan Li is the 2023–2025 Sheng Yen Postdoctoral Fellow in Chinese Buddhism. His research centers on the relationship between state and religion in Song Dynasty China (960–1279). He received an M.A. (2015) in Chinese History from Capital Normal University and his Ph.D. (2023) in East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Arizona State University.
